For her wisdom, love, and care. Happy Mother’s Day!

Spring Mix

Mother’s Day is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday in May. This year it is going to be on May 11th. In Hawaii, most of us take moms to brunch at their favorite restaurants. What do you do for mom on mother’s Day? And since you’re at our web site, you haven’t forgotten about flowers for your mom. There are a few ways to find out her favorite flowers. Show her a picture of an arrangement from a magazine and ask for her opinion. Look into her wedding albums and see what flowers she used. She probably also mentioned her favorites when you were planning your wedding. Look at flowers she buys regularly. Take notes on all of that. If you won’t be here on the island on Mother’s Day, call us early to reserve your flowers and delivery slot early. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!

Here is part of a poem that I like. It’s called “Before I was a Mom”

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on – Pooped on – Spit on – Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests…or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep….. ”

Here is a cool children book about mom.  Very cute.  It’s about a cute chick looking for his mother after he was hatched.

Are you my mother?   Title: Are you my mother?

Peony, oh it is so beautiful! Peony.

peony

A lot of people have asked about peonies during the year. They have finally arrived.  Stop by the store and check them out!  Peony is one of my favorite blossom. Its beauty inspired writers and artists to write and paint about them, especially in China and Japan.  Peony has its place in the world of art, poetry, medicine, and ornamental horiculture. The Chinese call them mu dan while the Japanese call them botan. Interestingly, Indiana beat China on making peony its official state flower  [learn more about Peony history]

We are featured on hapa|hale

It’s amazing how like minded connect.  We are honor to be featured on  hapa|hale, a weblog of everything hawaii, with a modern twist.  We love Hawaii.  We love modern. We love twist. The description about us could easily be replacing our own ”about us” And on the same day, DWR is on the posted as well. Not by coincidence.  We love Design Within Reach.  Just last week Sunday, we were outside the Ala Moana store (at after hours), admiring that Barcelona Chair and Eames Lounge Chair.
