Make and Take Lei Garden Workshop
Please join the Malama Learning Center on Saturday, September 26th from 9am-11:30pm at Leeward Community College to start your own lei garden! This workshop for families will show you how to grow native lei plants in your garden and give you plants to take home to get started. These lei plants can be grown in dryland/costal areas and do not require a lot of water. This workshop is provided to encourage lei makers, hula dancers, and anyone interested in lei making and thereby preserve wild populations that are becoming increasingly rare. By growing our own lei plants, we will help preserve native ecosystems as well as continue our cultural practices.
The workshop fee is $7 per person. Registration is required, to register or for more information: please contact Janice Staab at janicestaab@gmail.com or 542-9107.
