Delays would also occur on shipments to the mainland, meaning perishables, like cut flowers and papayas, won’t be as fresh and might even spoil during transit. Hawaii’s agricultural export industry is worth $125 million.â€Â Our governor is face with a budget deficit, so what she is going to do?

The State Department of Agriculture has saved 22 positions by shifting funds from the Alternate Funding ($1.8mil), Hawaii Invasive Species Prevention Fund($0.6mil), and Pest Inspection Quarantine and Eradication Special Fund($1.2mil).
